More than 4,000 people live in the Boulder neighborhood of Whittier, which encompasses just over half a square mile. One of the original neighborhoods in the city of Boulder, Whittier is a quiet and charming area adjacent to downtown and a walk-able lifestyle.
Residents enjoy a peaceful atmosphere that is complete with tree-lined streets and charming traditional architecture. Located west from the Whittier neighborhood and across Broadway is the Mapleton Hill district. It is a designated historic district with streets lined with Silver Maple trees, heritage homes and some of Boulder’s best examples of historic preservation. Many Mapleton Hill homes were constructed between 1895 and 1910, a number of which still stand today. There is a great deal of Victorian and Queen Anne architecture in the community, with houses having ample room to spread out with the larger lots it offers.
