Chautauqua

A natural oasis at the foot of Boulder’s Flatirons.

Welcome to Chautauqua | Rosehill

Chautauqua/Rosehill is a gorgeous area grounded by the greenery and craggy rocks the natural setting has to offer. A calm and private contrast to bigger and busier towns near Boulder, the rustic and down-to-earth area is an escape from city life and a welcome mat into picturesque open space and playground. The area is located near University Hill and overlooks Downtown Boulder.

Known for its tree-lined streets and towering homes that often display beautiful wooden and brick features, you’ll find historic and charming bungalows, Tudors, and farm-style houses across the neighborhood. Chautauqua/Rosehill is one of Boulder’s oldest neighborhoods, and most of the houses graciously boast large lots with mature trees. Living in Chautauqua/Rosehill means a peaceful escape as well as an easy commute to Downtown Boulder.

Residents of Chautauqua/Rosehill love nature, sustainability, and getting active. Due to its rich history and beginnings with the Chautauqua Movement, the community has an authentic focus on culture, education, and music. Surrounded by the iconic Flatirons (which are blanketed by snow in the winter and overflowing with lush fields in the summer), the close-knit community is characterized by both outdoor recreation and small-town activities. Chautauqua Park is a beloved open space with everything from playgrounds to tennis courts, and the vast array of hiking trails in the area are brimming with wildflowers in the warmer months. Flagstaff Mountain is a particularly great place to get some fresh air.

If you like basking in marvelous views while sitting next to a cozy fireplace, the Colorado Chautauqua has cottage rentals and the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful music and films. The Dining Hall, which has been a Boulder tradition for over a century, serves delicious brunch, dinner, happy hour drinks, and more. The beloved venue also offers concessions during music festival concerts and hosts special teas.

Looking for a night with the arts? Concerts are played in Chautauqua Auditorium, which is a charming barn-like hall that was built in the late 1800s. The town is also in close proximity to the University of Colorado Boulder, which has even more shows, conferences, and theatre performances in Mackey Auditorium Concert Hall and the University of Colorado Art Museum.
